Best States to Start a Business

In addition to my last article, Best Countries to Start a Business, here’s a list of the best states for startups which is also from Fortune Small Business. You can read the full article here, but I have provided summaries for the top 5 below:

1. South Dakota

No tax on personal income, capital gains or corporate income. Little crime and low energy costs.

2. Nevada

No tax on personal income, capital gains or corporate income and low property taxes. However, consumption and gas taxes are one of the highest in the nation.

3. Wyoming

No tax on personal income, capital gains, corporate income or capital gains. Cheap electric utility costs and gas taxes, but high in property and consumption-based taxes.

Funnest Game I’ve Played For a Long Time – WarioWare

Most creative game ever! WarioWare

Maybe I haven’t been playing enough games, wait…I don’t play games anymore except only on rare occasions, but I just played WarioWare: Smooth Moves on my brother’s Wii and it is FUUUUUN. It’s been a while since I have played a game that leaves me feeling excited and absorbed.

Facebook Ads Based on IP

I just arrived in Taiwan and checked Facebook to see this ad:

Facebook ads based on IP

What this means is that the kind of ads displayed is determined by the IP of the viewer. Now, I’m not sure whether the ads are contexual or not, but it sure doesn’t seem like it!

Wesabe – Manage Your Money Online

I have already started on one of my New Year’s Resolution, which is to manage my money better. The reason is not because I am in a huge debt or starving and living off leftover garbage food, but more so to get in the habit of understanding where my money is going or coming from.

This will be something I will need to do anyways when I start my own business, since I will have to somehow track my cashflow.

New Youtube Feature? Swarms of Bubbles as Related Videos

Am I going crazy from studying too much or did Youtube add a new feature to its video player?

If you view a video in full screen, there should now be a small weird symbol (which reminds me the symbol from Sharethis) beside the play button.

Opera Tries to Force IE into W3C Compliance

Internet Explorer sucks!

It was just yesterday that I mentioned how Internet Explorer does not render its pages according to W3C web standards. Well, today I found an article on Ars Technica – a technology blog saying how Opera had just filed an European Commission complaint against IE.

Facebook Finally Drops the “is” in Status

Facebook finally drops

I would like to say…THANK YOU FACEBOOK and it’s about !@%(* time.

I remember the beginning few weeks of using Facebook was a chore since I had to come up with phrases starting with only “is” to describe my ‘status’. I had to change it everyday, because it was the cool thing at the time so naturally that made things even worse. But I believe I became mentally sharper and 120 times of a greater man after being introduced to Facebook since I now can describe anything in any situation with phrases that start with “Peter Kao is”

Anyways, all your headaches are gone! And it’s all because of a Facebook group called, “Petition to Get Rid of “is” from Facebook Status Update!

The collective voice triumphs yet again!
