Opera Tries to Force IE into W3C Compliance

It was just yesterday that I mentioned how Internet Explorer does not render its pages according to W3C web standards. Well, today I found an article on Ars Technica - a technology blog saying how Opera had just filed an European Commission complaint against IE.
This is what Jon von Tetzchner, the CEO of Opera has responded,
“We are filing this complaint on behalf of all consumers who are tired of having a monopolist make choices for them. In addition to promoting the free choice of individual consumers, we are a champion of open Web standards and cross-platform innovation. We cannot rest until we’ve brought fair and equitable options to consumers worldwide.”
Microsoft has definitely the ability and resources to fix its problem, but I feel like they are just being lazy and are using its browser market dominance to cut costs on its IE development team. They are even slow at patching up known exploits and bugs compared to the other top web browsers.
Silly Microsoft, when will you spend a more effort on your software? On top of rendering issues, there had been several other problems with Internet Explorer, such as the dangerous VML Bug which allowed hackers to execute potentially malicious code on your computer.
