You are probably wondering, “What the hell are “First Page Results”? Simply put, when you search for keywords from Google (or any search engine) the websites that show up on the first page always get high incoming traffic. A lot more people visit the websites listed on the first page compared to sites listed on later pages. So, you always try to have your website in the top 10 ranking for your keywords.

The keywords for my website are my name,“Peter Kao” and “Undergrad Entrepreneur.”

After doing some configurations with Google Webmaster Tools the search rankings for my website immediately shot-up.

I came from being on the second page for the keywords “Peter Kao” to the first page. Now, this may seem silly since this blog is my blog. However, you’d be surprised how many Peter Kao wannabe’s are out there. What a bunch of phonies eh?

Also, now I’m ranked third (not as in third page, but third result!!) for keywords, “Undergrad Entrepreneur.”

But if you do a search with “Undergraduate Entrepreneur” my page is no where to be found…

Anyways, the point is to use Google Webmaster Tools if you want to be ranked up high in Google search results!

I was browsing through a fellow UW undergrad’s blog when I stumbled upon his “Endless Google Search”.

The first thing that went through my mind as I was using it was, “Holy shit. This is awesome.” This just comes to prove that opening up API’s is a really good thing for the world. It allows creative programmers such as Paul (his blog here) the tools and resources to building something as ingenious as his “Endless Google Search.”

Basically, Paul used one of Google’s API’s to create his own search tool, one that uses the Google Search Engine but lists the results in such a way that you don’t need to click on any link to see more results. The mod uses AJAX to load search results, which allows you to simply scroll down to view more. This is a great tool if you are doing research!

However, as someone mentioned in the comments for the post, the ‘endlessness’ of the page may incur depression in some people…LET THIS BE A WARNING TO THE WEAK-MINDED

I’m not going to lie to you, this is probably the most useful post thus far on my blog (if you’re a young entrepreneur, that is).

Here’s the list of all the grants and loans (aka free money) for young Canadian entrepreneurs residing in Ontario:

Youth Entrepreneurship Partnerships Grants for NON-PROFIT Organizations- provides funding of up to $100,000 per year for up to 3 years to non-profit organizations in Ontario that facilitate the development of an enterprising culture amongst Ontario’s youth (typically between the ages of 12 – 29) by providing them with educational, experiential, and entrepreneurial opportunities and programs.
Young Entrepreneurs Program: Summer Company - up to $3000 for students between 15 and 29 to start a summer business.

Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program - not clear on the benefits, it’s like an “after hours” co-op program for more info contact:
