Hello Hal!

I sort of have an idea of what you'd like to accomplish but I think it'd be best if I could see your site. That way I can interact with it and find out your requirements more easily.

But, it seems like you need a lot of custom development work done and your focus is on these instead of other shopping cart features. If that is the case, then Drupal Commerce will work well for you since you'll find a lot of developers familiar with the Drupal system.

I can help you further if you supply me with a link to your website.

In case you're still paying attention to comments after 2+ months:

I'm a used bookseller, and tend to have 10,000 - 20,000 one of a kind offerings. I once developed my own store using Perlshop, which hasn't been developed since 1998.

However, I like the general structure. Inventory had to be changed multiple times a day, based on sales either via the shop or via Amazon, ABE, or other listing brokers.

More importantly, I generate static inventory display pages with an elaborate set of links, to provide a "library view" (e.g. currently browed book surrounded by other available books as they would appear on library shelves), links to many different subject categories (100s, that are automatically generated based on Library of Congress listings for the books I offer).

So, I need to basically preserve that structure and only really need a "back end", truly shopping cart only solution, and find it very difficult to tell which if any solutions could be used that way.

Would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks, Hal
